    Hi Sonic,
Yes I agree, very silly. BUT imagine a scratchplate strat with this built into its body, a rechargeable battery via USB, 6w amp and 2 small speakers in behind the scratchplate, as well as a traditional output jack? With a shorty headstock I think I could get it in a standard suitcase and then it would be a whole lot of fun whilst travelling..... that's the next plan. I'm pretty sure I can squeeze this all into the available space...

Oh I’m not knocking the idea at all - it sounds rad! I was just sharing...

Looking forward to seeing how it pans out.

Ha! Might have come up with a delay... went to do the mahogany stain, and it came out horrible. All blotchy. I'll need to spray it to get it even. Problem is the whole guitar is covered. About 90 mins solid sanding cleaned off the flat front and this much of the back, and that's kinda it for interest this evening.......
So, it'll have to wait until I can face some more sanding. Not today. Or this week, methinks!

Bugger. I must say when I tired to do my SG like an Angus guitar I had a similar issue with the red just not looking even enough.

Most mahogany stains seem to have too much brown content and when paired with light coloured basswood it is a gamble as to what the final colour might be.

agreed, it seemed to absorb it unevenly, but it is mahogany not basswood, albeit a very pale mahogany!

I'm thinking that spraying the stain should get it nice and even, which I hope will solve the problem. At least I'll know the guitar has been well sanded by the time I get this lot off!
The colour where it was even is perfect, not too brown, not too red.

BTW here's the amp for scratch plate project - it is 5v and 2x3w so I can get the stereo from the Korg too...

and here's the speakers, to go in the place of the centre pickup (so not a whole lot of stereo separation there then)

the power source buried in the body will be one of those phone battery portable rechargers of 5000mAH, at 5w and 5v that should run on a full charge for about 5 hours by my maths - enough to make your fingers sore! Something like this, although it makes a spurious claim about its capacity I'd say...

Okay, Igor is curled up in the corner rocking gently and gibbering rather loudly something about status indicator LEDs, doing a neck chop and adding a steinberger style tail adjusting bridge?
I'd say it was a semi catatonic state, but it seems more like some form of rapture...I think he may actually be broken....
