I believe Perth to Melb is via donkey.
For an authentic LP Jr, you'd really need the three-on-a strip style tuners. The classic LP sunbursts ('58-'60) used single line Kluson tuners with rounded front and rear edges, so the Klusons are klosest to those (see what I did there?)
Also, I'd go for the slightly higher tuning ratio of the Klusons and their more ivory button colour, rather than the snot green of the Grovers.

Yes, the 3-on-a-plate style need the post holes drilled in straight line, and in your photos they look slightly offset as they follow the curve of the headstock sides.
Doing more of a mock build to work out scale length for neck placement etc. Looks like neck hard up in pocket will be right given to bridge post routing, which will make setting it easier.
There is a little wiggle room in the pocket, but Looks too small for a side wall shim. Maybe 1mm at the absolute most. I've attached pic below.
Unfortunately one of the bridge posts doesn't fit into the bridge. It is fractionally too small between the lips. Will not fit the bridge on either side. The other post is fine however.
So my previous plan for maybe getting a replacement bridge looks more likely now.... Otherwise I guess I could find out if Adam has a spare post/bushing.

A few strokes on the bottom with a bastard file will fix that sucker.
cheers, Mark.
Always wondered how the bastard file got its name

Hey Churchie, yeah the wonky tuner holes are on all LP style kits. if you are going to paint the headstock black, just stick a bit of doweling in there and re-drill. If you aren't going to pain the head stock just put a veneer on the head stock to cover the doweling.
Or if you are lazy like me, I just used thee a side Klusons not on a plate.
