I'm glad this is behind you now Gav, hopefully the typical buildfest you produce is on the way. And as usual - they will be awesome

    Thanks guys,

Well, I got the chance to get another layer of black dye on today. I'm pretty happy with the amount of colour. I think I sanded too fine to get a really deep black, but I do like the fact that I can still see the grain quite clearly on what I have. It's quite a trans-black look, edging towards even dark walnut. Hmm. Here's what it looked like after the second round of dye dried.

After that I managed to get 2 soak coats of TO applied. Coat 1:

and now just after coat 2 has gone on. I do think it's coming up nicely.

I *may* chuck some Colortone dye into the next TO coat to darken the black a smidge, but I'm undecided. It's well past time I get started on the neck. I still have to cut the headstock shape, so hopefully I'll find more time this weekend to get that done.

Anyone else going to Sydney Supernova on Sunday 18th? I might see you there.

    cheers,
    Gav.

    Thanks Woks,

Yeah it's got a standard strat tremelo, gold hardware at the moment, but I might change that up, not sure. I'm thinking about bareknuckle pickups, maybe a zebra Tonerider Rocksong in the bridge and maybe a noiseless Entwistle single coil in the neck. Not sure yet.

    cheers,
    Gav.

Great color so far. I wonder how it will look with gold hardware. Could be a killer
