I am new here but this isn't my first build as I have 4 builds of other brand kits to my name and I have learned so much with each build but this one is, at this point in time, my favorite due to my little personal touches and the sound that is produced. If I was as good with a camera as I am with tools it looks a lot better in person. The internet is so useful for information and specs and I wanted to produce the right sound to do the kit justice. The finish is a Heritage Cherry Red with 3 coats of clear polished to with an inch of its life. I am using a font that is really close to the original on the Truss Rod Cover and the name went through a few changes before I got to what I wanted and I had to change the shape to fit between the tuners. I love the R tailpiece on the Ricks but had to change mine to suit the Truss Rod Cover. I went with a roller version of the bridge and put in a pair of Allparts Vintage Style Single Coil Pups. They were the closest match spec wise to the original Rick Pups I could find and really give it that Jingle Jangle sound. Its not perfect as I will change the mounting rings once I make some new ones and have found that the body is a really soft wood and if I was to do it again I would go for the Mahogany as this body marks really easy. But to me a guitar is made for playing not displaying. After this build my wife has given me permission to buy the other 6 guitars I want so I think I am a winner already. The sound is just like an original, when I play mine if you close your eyes you would swear that John Lennon was playing, if he had broken fingers.
