Yhep. You dont need to file the groove too deep, just enough to stop the string moving.
About half a bees knee will do the trick

There is always a workaround for glitches, mistakes and other Guitar building gremlins.....

I've read somewhere that the notch has to be no deeper than about half the diameter of the string or something like that, sounds easy enough, I'll have a look for my nut-slot files tomorrow.

What's interesting is that the notches in the string saddles on the old bridge are way deeper than they really should be, not surprising considering that it's cheap hardware.

With the old bridge, you will probably find it was made from mystery metal.
Usually very soft so the strings most likely cut the grooves deeper just through the tension and constant tuning.

Hey Doc, I've just listened to your before and after demos. Massive improvement with the new bridge and gets rid of that rather grating sitar type sound!

Cheers, good to know that I'm on the right track with regards to the mods I'm doing to the guitar, and I agree, the Sitar-Buzzing was getting a bit too grating for me.
