OK, we have made some progress.
I have finished sanding the neck and applied the first coat of Dingotone acacia.
I am pretty concerned that, A, its very orange!! and , B, its fairly uneven.
DB, have I fornicated the K9? or will it soak in and even out?Click image for larger version.

Thanks Stan, I have also drilled all the necessary holes for bashplate, bridge and tremelo, I thought Id get that done before sanding and finishing the body.
Im still concerned about the neck colour and blotchyness though, has anyone else had the same thing?

Next step has been sanding the body and a grain fill, it needs a bit more sanding yet, and possibly another dose of grain filling.
The electronics are in place, but not wired up as yet as Im waiting on a push/pull pot as I think Ill wire it with I/O phase and a blend knob.
Anyone tried this on their strat?

Today I FINALLY got some time to make some progress,
First job was another grain fill, more sanding, some sanding, then I squeezed in a bit more sanding.
Then drilling the holes for last bits of hardware.

Did the Dingotone settle down on the neck?

I added another coat of outback sunset and that seemed to cover the problem.
Ive ordered another dose, as one bottle has done 2 coats of the neck and 1 for the body, at this stage I think the body needs at least 2 coats, maybe 3, then the intensifier and final coat.
I think I may have had some oil on my hands when handling the neck, but I did give it a very decent sand.
I have to admit at one stage I was thinking I had completely faarked the finish on the neck, so I am extremely relieved to see it looking OK.
There is some slight inconsistency to the tone of the neck, but we can just call that character.
As a first build I think Ive done OK, nothing flash, but not too shabby (so far), my main concern is how it willl play once Ive set it up.
At this stage I plan on building at least 2 more PBs, we shall just have to wait and see.

No worries - if you have any issues PM Dingobass via the forum - he's keen to see if there are any issues with the Dingotone. With the number of posts, it's easy for one of us to miss something important.

So,, I have today and tomorrow off work, YAY ME!!!!!!!!!!!!
Time to make some progress while I wait for more Dingotone outback sunset, (one bottle has done 2 coats on the neck and 1 on the body)
I got onto the wiring today, and its job done! I have gone for a pushpull pot instead of the middle PU tone, it throws the middle pickup in or out of phase, and the pot is a "blend" control.
I held the bashplate against the strings of my real strat to test and although that was no test of the tone, it showed me
A: it works, and B: theres lots of different sounds.

nice one Soundguy, wiring looks very tidy. Think the pickups should be rotated 180 degrees so I'd make sure the pickguard fits in the cavity ok. Tonerider blues pups should sound great and like the mod you made for out of phase and blend pot.
