Cut a little bevel into the back of the headstock which works pretty nicely I reckon, gave the whole neck a really good sand and shot the black over top.
I'd been racking my brains over how to rout a 2mm deep channel right out to the ends on back of the body and came up with the idea of cutting the rough shape of the body out of a piece of custom wood and fitting it over the body therefore extending the working surface area for the router to sit on. Pretty crude but it seems to work okay. Won't be doing anything until the veneer turns up anyway.

wow Barge that's an excellent idea with the body cutout to route the veneer channel on the back. You are a genius mate ! That headstock looks killer with black and the nice bevel on the back. This axe is going to be a killer and I'm thinking very high chance of another GOTM

    Hey cheers guys:-)

So I was kinda hoping this little hunk of timber would turn up today, even in it's current state you can see so how nice that quilt's gonna look, time to get routing...wish me luck.

Couldn't be happier with the result really, ended up with a nice tidy fit...stoked
    Glued and on the clamps.

Like a pro. I want to see that quilt rubbed back with a damp cloth though, to see that gorgeous grain.

Really diggin' that headstock too. Looks killer.

Cut the angle off the back of the body this arvo, trimmed the overhang off the veneer and a did a bit of sanding. The veneer is sitting proud about 0.4 (or so) off the body so I'll probably plane it flat tomorrow or something along those lines, other than that I can't do much else until more parts arrive, could re-wire the control plate maybe.

@brodie Gave the veneer a bit of a wet wipe and as you can see it's a nice looking bit of timber alright, should look fricken beautiful sanded, glossed and flanked by black...hopefully anyway.
