    hi guys,

More progress on the Jnr (finally). Somehow I seem to be working more than building at the moment. I don't know how that happened . Anyway, I now have 3 coats of Butterscotch on the body and 7 on the neck. James is pretty happy with the depth of colour, the amount of grain visible, and the colour match between body and neck. As expected, the rock maple hasn't taken the colour exactly the same as the body, but with double the coats applied, it's close enough.

I've now moved on to the clear coats. I'm using Wutdone clear gloss no aging on the body, and Wudtone clear neck finish on the neck. Currently I have 3 coats on both. No real shine yet, but the clear is starting to enhance the colour. Very happy with the results.

    cheers,
    Gav.

Thanks Wokka. Yeah it's gotta be better than the first . The pickguard came out pretty well. Don't have the technology or the skills to camber the edge, but I kinda like it straight anyway..

    cheers,
    Gav.

    hi guys,

With the Wudtone cured nicely on the body and neck of the DC Jnr, I was able to do a little assembly today. James is happy with the default Wudtone 'satin' finish, so that's great - no more to do! I think I did a better job with the Wudtone this time around. Practice makes perfect! Just in time to switch to Dingotone .

Anyway, I got the neck attached, the bridge installed and checked the action up the neck. I think it is going to be ok without a shim, but time will tell. At it's lowest bridge height, the E strings are just off the frets. Last of all I got the P90 screwed down, making sure the pole pieces lined up as close as possible with the strings.

Just need some shielding tape and I can continue down the home straight with this one.

    cheers,
    Gav.

Man you got that right Wokks, beautiful!!!

Another quality build here Gav, looks amazing mate. Did you ever think about using a Dremmel with a grinding or sanding wheel to cut the bevel on the pickguards?

Looking good Gav. I've beveled a pickguard with a straight file before. Wasn't too difficult, just a bit fiddly.

Thanks guys. Bargey, Pabs - I'll take the hint and do a bevel around the edge of the pickguard . Thanks for the pointers on how to get it done. I don't have a dremel (yet) so it might have to be a hand file..

    cheers,
    Gav.

I've always loved the aesthetics of the DCs but I just can't handle how they sit when playing. It's a shame because they're so pretty.
