And that blue trim really sets it off!
I know you're joking but, I use that tape all the time and it looks really good next to alot of things, I wish there was a binding that colour.
It would look good with a white guitar!!!!

@Bargie - thinking of doing French Polish. Anyone with experience?

Looks pretty much the same after another coat but the grain is getting better all the time. One more probably and the on to the sides back and neck.

It's looking more deep and golden with each coat. Sorta like a crumpet with honey!

@Lozza looks even better in real life.
First coat on back and sides and 3 or 4 on neck. Pleased at how deep the colour is.

    Thanks for the comments.
I have got to the point with the staining that I am ready to put a finish on.
Going with French Polish at this stage. If it doesn't work I can always start again, however there is good instruction on the forum and elsewhere on the net.
A couple of pics of the mock up before starting the finish and one of the headstock which is the familiar Bart Simpson haircut style.

And I didn't see the Hawthorn connection at first, but maybe I should put the famous 23 on the build somewhere...

After much rubbing and rubbing finally at a stage where I'm happy with the finish. I found that French Polish is a great finish that requires firstly a near to perfect surface to start with and endless hours of patience.
In between the polishing is first attempt to build a guitar case. Probably got too much time on my hands!!!!

Jeez that looks sweet man, apart from the elbow grease needed to achieve that wicked finish the polish seems a great alternative to spraying, especially in this colder weather.
Definitely keen on seeing this case evolve too, I need one for my baby and if there's anyway of actually making one I'm all ears. The biggest issue I could see would be the weight factor.

That looks amazing Denis! Too much time on your hands is a curse I would love to suffer from.
