looking awesome Budi, starting to get a shine after 2 coats.
Sorry I missed your question from April 25, just saw it.
Generally about 5 or 6 coats of extra gloss wudtone is enough.
Most of my projects I'm using Tru Oil clear coats and I tend to thin them down as its not self leveling to minimise the steaks. Some of the forum guys like Robin and Gav Turner are putting on 15-20 coats of TO to get a really glassy look.
You will know when there's enough top gloss coats, post some pics after the 4th or 5th coat ! Remember try and wait 48 hours between coats !
    Current Builds and status
scratch end grain pine tele - first clear coat on !
    JBA-4 - assembled - final tweaks
Telemonster double scale tele - finish tobacco burst on body and sand neck

    Completed builds
scratch oak.rose gum Jazzmaster - assembled needs setup
    MK-2 Mosrite - assembled - play in
Ash tele with Baritone neck - neck pup wiring tweaks and play in

Wow Budi - that Saffron top looks really fantastic! Matches perfectly with the back and neck colour too. Awesome job!

    cheers,
    Gav.

Thanks all for the kind comments

@Wokka thanks for the advice, definitely will post more pics as I progress.

@Gavin thanks for your kind comment, but I don't think I'll try to match your 15 to 20 coats of your builds.
BTW I've checked out your website, boy hats off to you. Excellent website, I noticed some of your guitars hung on the wall on the sound demo videos. Impressive

    Regards
    Budi

good stuff Budi, 4 or 5 top coats should be enough as outlined by Dingobass yesterday, his method is start off with thin coats and slowly make each coat after thicker. Don't forget to steel wool between coats and wait at least 48 hours between coats. Look forward to pics soon !

To all thank you again for the kind comment.

To Stan I see on your note bellow you're modding your Squire, can I ask what kind of mod you're doing to it?
The reason I ask is that I also have a Korean Fender Squire for along long time now ( I got them from my high school teacher when I was in school band). And I am getting really fond as it aged, but the trem block shows a crack and I am having a thought of modding it. Not only the block but PUPs upgrade as well.
Anyway thanks for your kind comment. And I will post more pics of my builds as it progress.

You all be good and have a cracking weekend

    Budi

Budi - check out the Tonerider Pickups from the PBG guys - have seen them being used and those that have used them love them...

Hey Budi, the Squier is getting a Fender Stratocaster headstock decal, and a pickup upgrade:
A Gilmour black strat mod of Fender custom shop fat 50's (neck pickup), Fender custom shop 69 (middle pickup), and a Seymour Duncan SSL5 (bridge pickup).

The build quality of the guitar is as good as a proper Fender Tele I have, so I have no shame in the logo upgrade with the pickups - a sunburst tribute version of the Gilmour Black Strat if you will...
