Its a bueaty, wont to keep the Mammoth Tusk nut on the 'Downlow' so to speak. Bound to be some one out there who knows nothing about bone nuts , guitars etc upset at how he used a piece of fossilsed tusk.

Imagine the facebook outrage,' Man uses Acient Rare Elephant Tusk for amusement' Social do gooders would have a field day.

I love the reversed burst on this top. Might keep it in mind for another build.
Yep, I saw it there saw well.
Some of those guys have more money than sense. Lol

Yep, definitely wouldn't mind having their disposable income available!!
I laugh when they say they want to get rid of their cheaper guitars, and want to get some high end PRS as their knock about guitar!!

You will find that a lot of Luthiers use fossilized tusk, teeth and the like.
It's not as rare as you would think.

There is always a workaround for glitches, mistakes and other Guitar building gremlins.....

Does it effect the tone or the strength of the nut, or is it just marketing?

Yeah agreed, if it was on any standard looking acoustic, it would look gaudy, but against that black ebony timber it looks magical!
Keep in mind, that timber is not stained, it is naturally that dark, just the clear coat has deepened it dramatically!
