That's a really beautiful bass...funny, when I look at this, I am reminded of Ibanez basses from the late seventies and early eighties that I used to lust after...
Decided to call this finished before I over did it.
PGB-2 kit.
The only real mod is filling in the stop tail holes so I could fit the replica Teisco tail piece. Bridge is a combination of parts from a gold roller bridge and a black one. Pick ups are GFS Gold Foils which where previously in the Community prototype build ( now onto its 3rd makeover). Pots are Alphas, 250 on the single coil, a 500 push pull splitting the humbucker. Knobs are Marshal amp knobs. Brass nut. Tuners are Grovers with gold nuts and screws from a set of kit tuners. I cut the headstock shape with a hole saw in a pedestal drill.
Paint is auto acrylic, its a dark blue metallic pearl on the front which flip flops to dark purple in different light. There is a black burst on the edges which is just visible as I mixed some of the blue in the first clear coats. On the back is a large print of one of my 3D renders which I tried to blend into the black, even with umpteen layers of clear the edges are still visible.. oh well, it was an experiment.
Anyway it plays and sounds nice, the tail piece is a right pain the string up. I resorted to putting all the strings in and holding them in place with a bit of tape until they had tension on them, then reaching in with bent tweezers an pulling the tape out.

Sounds a bit generic Waz, maybe because I had the pick ups in a different guitar and already know their sound. It is a very comfortable guitar to play, its very small only 3/4 the size of a Les Paul Jnr, so its light.

Well, unlike Dark Mark, unfortunately I'm heading towards the end of my guitar kit building odyssey as I am getting close to full on the guitar front! Only a couple to go...
Been busy this year, this is my third since January! To be fair, I've had all of them some time, and been bubbling along with them all and they are coming to fruition close together.
This is probably going to be my favourite of all. I think this is the one I'll pick up the most, time will tell. It is possibly the last TL 51 kit, and I do hope Adam makes some more of them for you all! They are great, the fatter neck as small body shape make it feel V comfy to play.
The thing I'm most happy about is the aging, especially the paint finish. Although it's an enamel, I think it looks pretty close to a thin aged nitro finish.
Most non electrical metal parts have been in the 'rusting pot' which is a salty slurry, but the wear on the timber was done with stains and paint rather than dirt and rust. I'm hoping to have a 'stable relic' which will stay the same for ages!
It has tonerider vintage classic pickups and a pull knob to put the pickups in series. I've only had a quick go through the amp, but it does really ramp up the sound a bit like a humbucker. I'll finish the setup and then do a sound demo.
Also has a bone nut and knock off Kluson tuners.
The plastic scratch plate was hit with 2000 wet and dry to give it the old look, and I bought some slot screws for the scratch plate.
things still to do...
I might need to shim the bass side of the neck a tiny bit to get the adjustment right. The neck is straight, but the neck pocket seems a tiny bit off level. Needs investigating.
Final fret dress needs to be finished.
A few more of the Phillips head screws need replacing with flat head.
Only downside...
The gap between the bridge and the scratchplate is too big compared with the Nocaster, not much I can do about that! Also in the photos the bridge looks a little squiffy to me..... repeated measurements show it isn't!
