Did you use short lengths of tape on the concave curve sections? That tape does have a tendency to pull away from the middle of the curve by itself if you use too long a piece.
Have you checked the spacing for the tuning machines, or are you swapping out the kit elephant ears? I know some people have had issues with lack of real estate on the headstock.

first coat of stain... using a 50/50 mixture of purple and black Crimson Guitars Stunning Stains...
pretty, but I've watched some videos about popping the grain so...
back to the sanding...
seems to work so...

OOOOO that's come up special, i really like the purple and the way it has worked with the four planks, it almost makes it look like a design feature. I though it looked good with the solid colour but the rubbed back grain pop is beautiful.
