I read somewhere that he couldn't read or write music notation, but when he wrote songs he used to sing all the parts to each guy in the band. He had all the whole arrangement, including the brass in his head.

So is this the Tele you want to copy?

I am having a problem with the Wiring of my Strat , I do not understand the 5 way switch so I will probably replace it with a Standard 5 way switch as I cannot get the Bridge pick up wired . I changed the Pick ups with Texas Specials and I have Neck and Middle working but the tones are wonky and the bridge is not working

Hi Darwin, please post a couple of close up pics of the wiring we may be able to help. Resident wiring guru Weirdbits should be able to help. Is the bridge pup correctly earthed and makes a good join to the switch ? Might also help to please post the wiring diagram you are using. Cheers

    ............1...2...3.....0.....4...5...6

    1. Neck pickup
    2. Middle pickup
    3. Bridge pickup
    0. Out to volume (common)
    4. Neck tone
    5. Middle tone
    6. no connection

(or link 4 & 5 as neck/middle tone and connect to 6 for a bridge tone etc.)

Ground the switch via tab on the switch body, if not grounded by pickguard shielding.

Actually foun d out what the problem was bridge pick up wasn't connecting to the switch . So after re soldering the switch and wire I also did a Shim to the neck as the saddles were looking like stilts so I was able to lower saddles and it seems to be sounding fine
