A good variety of guitars coming in this month and I'm liking them all!
I was going to ask if basses were eligible... apparently so! I hereby enter "Kilmister One" my Lemmy tribute RCA-4. It's basically all kit, aside from the flamed maple trussrod cover, walnut pickup ring and walnut control cover. It's the ash body, handcarved "Lemmy" and oak leaf clusters. I used a marquetry purfling on the boundaries of the carved areas. The colors are minwax stains. There are a few different ones on there. The finish is a couple coats of the very naughty Tru Oil, steel wooled between coats. I didnt want a plastic finish due to the organic nature of the bass... here are some pics... thanks for looking!

Here's my Contribution.....given the outstanding quality of the competition i do not sand a chance although i am proud of my first build.....unfortunately i have not got the headstock decals sorted yet.....as i amstill working out a design....any way, here is my attempt to pay homage to one of the forefathers of the guitars.....Leo Fender with my interpretation of the original Broadcaster......
I tried to keep this build as clean and simple as possible.....clean lines, pure wood singing through and wow.....what a tone....
Build details are as follows:
TLA-1 kit....
Grover Locking tuners....
Schaller Black Strap Locks.
Tone Rider Vintage Pups...
Wilkinson Ashtray Bridge.
Black through body ferrules.
Bone Nut... ( Observation - Wanted to go Graphite with the nut but didn't think it fitted with the look.)
Naughty Oil as the only body treatment after the grain was filled with a cedar timber mate...
D'addario 10's (Sorry the slinky,s are too light for me)..
Anyway , for the pictures:
The grain looks flippin' amazing.. "The Biz" as they say... lol (Im trying to assimilate!).. nice work!
