    Bad luck on the Ormsby - that said - I'm with you - I think it'd be more fun to do a course with Perry than just buy a pre built guitar. Yes, I think the quality of a guitar that I hand built would be no where near as good, but it would be mine.... I think it'd also be great to hang out with someone with his understanding, experience and passion for building guitars.

    @stan
    I saw that in the build diary, I'll have a second look for

    @Brendan
    That's for sure, I hear Perry can be a pretty funny guy as well

    Another question, it didn't seem to be covered in the dingotone video:
    I just put down the stain coat (I'll have photos soon) and I'm wondering how soon it's possible to put on the intensifying coat. I know I need to wait a few days between the the intensifying and the top coat but I haven't been able to find anything between the stain and intensifying. How soon can I use the intensifying coat?

    Dingotone takes a while to dry. You need to be patient. I think the standard wisdom is wait a week if you can. If you have had warm (but not hot) and dry weather it may be quicker. But if the whether has been humid, you will need to wait at least a week. Also the colour intensifies the longer you leave it. Makes sure you do at least two coats of each layer. I found out the hard way that minor spots that you have missed may not show up for a week or two (especially with the intensifying coat).

    In that case I think I done goof'd

    I used up half of the bottle last night and the rest this morning. If any spots come up I'm okay with getting another bottle if I have to.

    Either way, new photos! There's a couple spots that simply wouldn't accept any stain at all, sadly

    Hi Mr Foster,
    firstly love your idea for the drying jig two clamps upside down - excellent idea !
    I had the same trouble with my STA some areas wouldn't take the stain. What grit paper did you sand to ? If it was 400 or more you may need to sand with a rougher grit to give the surface some tooth.
    The cutaway/horn area is glue and will take too much effort now to remove.
    I keep using the stain coat till the bottle has finished, sounds like 3 coats maximum for you anyway. The first coat usually takes about half a bottle it really soaks in. It should darken a bit as the oils in the stain cures.
    Go onto intensifying coat once the stain coat has finished. If you apply it fairly thin I think you can get away with 4 days curing if its warm/hot weather

    You might be able to get a wire brush on to those glue spots to try and get them to accept some stain. Do you have more pics. Interested to see how the colour is developing!

    cheers,
    Gav.

    I just applied another intensifying coat, would now be a good time to take photos or should I wait for the morning?
