Good advice DB, guess that's the naughty corner for me now.

Today I sanded and cut the headstock and neck, rubbed some finish on and (hopefully) got out of the naughty corner with the PitBull decal.
Was going to rub some dingo wax on it but not sure if I can rub it over the transfer with out disturbing it.

Put the headstock transfers today. Not much happening otherwise.

Well, after agonising about what to finish this with, my girls (young women) got me a air brush and little compressor with a 3lt tank.
So, a sunburst might be realised.
A little shy to try it out at first, today I thought may as well.
Only started on the head stock face, and, for a first try it's not too bad.

    Pic 1 Sunburst

pic 2 One coat of shellac, highly diluted. Additional coats stronger.

If it continues only extra coats will tell.

    Rick

Went over the head-stock again this morning, ended up taking it off, then sprayed it again, had a bit of the "paint" left so thought I might do the body.

Had enough to complete it, might put another coat on but will decide when it dries.

Not real happy with it it's not fading in too well but may be tomorrow it might tell me what to do.

Also it's a bit wide, but if I can get it to fade it might be ok. Am thinking of putting some black around the edge, but mightn't get that fading too well either.

    Pic 2 <> body

    Pic 3 <> together.

Had a big "mess up", the red that I used for the outer of the burst didn't like my gloss, or rather the gloss didn't like my red. Next time I will use something that likes each other.

Pic 1 <> neck. I am very happy with this, it has a nice shine and is smooth to the touch. another set of coats should see this done. (instructions say 1 coat then an hour till 2nd, then another hour for 3rd then wait 24 hours before another set of coats after fine sanding / or 0000 steel wool.

Pic 2<> body, you will notice no red and it is a different color. Not smooth and shiny but hopefully it will be by the time I think it has had enough.

Pic 3 <> headstock. it's not to bad and I like the simple look, will be interesting to see when the machine heads are installed. Another few coats needed here.

    Rick.

wow Rick so you got rid of all the red burst, what clear coat you using ? 1 hour between coats doesn't sound like enough time.
Pity the red burst didn't work out that looked really nice the colours
