Looking mighty fine Haydn. Be really keen to know your bridge measurement when you're finished. It'll give me a good ball park for when I do mine. Also very keen to hear how she sounds.

Finished the set-up and a few things need moving, 1-stly not going to shim the neck I like the 100% flat on flat in the footing. so dropped the action at the nut 3mm its still a bit high all round took more off and went to far so shimed up with some brass plate and now am in need of making a new one from brass stock that will be collected 1st thing the stores open!theplastic nut is shyte!..it was just stupidly high, now the action on the 1st string needs to be dropped further so will file deeper into the nut, but the bridge is still to high with the grubs completely removed. also once I Had done the internation found the bridge can move 4mm forwards from where i chose to put it, internation is completely different to my 5 string shapes in the bridge saddles. so now will move the bridge and machine a pocket for the bridge to be lowered into giving me full adjustability in all directions! The sound is pretty good for a passive setup with the stock everything out the box, will make a recording tonight
will be keeping it clear wood and just surfacing with a high gloss clear coat of some sorts once ive decided what brand to use thats available in Oz!

    Thanx !
yes it is jus a few bars to highlight the blend of the bass with its friends in a mix...I like it, has a great sound for a cheap low quality kit! needed a lot of work to get it there still need to do the fret levelling I can see a few high spots here and there not buzzing yet as the action is still in the clouds, went and got 3.5 meters of brass flat bar to make a nut..yea they dont sell it by the mm so had to get the whole dang strip!
machined a couple of nuts so far so good...the 1st one turned out great...except it is for a left hand bass...funny last i checked i dont have a left hand bass...oh well reverse cad drawing and cut again! hehehe oh i love my little mind sometimes!keeps me entertained!

Now have full adjustability on the bridge can go up down and back and forth giving the perfect internation and action settings in all directions, woohoo! did the setup now and only have 1 position buzz on one string..how kaka is that!
oh well cant win em all
sunk the bridge 2mm giving a 100% flat surface " the bridge rocked before" so now neck pocket 100% bridge 100% contact with body no shims YEA BABY! very nice vibs through the neck and body now

up loading vid of job as we speak!

looking sweet Haydn, you are so lucky to have access to the CNC machine you have so many options available. Love the truss road cover and tuner/headstock decorations too !
So was the action too high with the original bridge ontop of the cap setup ?
I should bolt mine together next week or two.

yes it was, didnt give me enough room to move down even with grubz removed, I like a fast low action on bass same as guitar really but hey ive seen some bases with a really high action and guys love it. not for me I like a slap bass low action so needs to be really accurate and setable...her is the vid of the pocket cut,
I built my own cnc machine to get 24/7 access only cost 5k in parts so really worth it in the long term ! just my imagination is the limit woohooo!
