Unbelievable, outstanding, incredible, fabulous, amazing and sumptuous.
I think I just ran out of superlatives.....
Glenno, looking fantastic, basswood does take up the wudtone differently so don't worry about the lighter areas, they will deepen in colour with more base coats and its reminded me how cool a colour azure lagoon is, may have to order more !!
deffo gold highlights and this baby will be well regarded for future GOTM entries !! good luck and I'll be watching this diary

Couple of points and a question. I went with silver highlights as I thought they'd be more subtle, given the theme silver should work better than gold I think re applying them, this is only the deep colour stain being shown and according to the instructions, the highlights go on between the last base coat and the finishing coats. Is this wrong and should I apply the highlight next?/<\\/p>[]<\\/p>/Quote from Gavin1393 on July 4, 2013, 19:57
Whack the gold highlights on it and a layer or two of the base coat! That is looking fantastic!
Nope - go for the base coats first then highlights. I believe you could also mix the highlights into the last base coat if you wanted, depends on the look you want. If you do it earlier, I think you may end up masking them with future base coats.

Thanks Brendan, that's what I figured. Apply and wait, steelo apply and wait. Rinse and repeat.
Wow Glenn, that is going to look stunning. I think I'm looking at potential GOTM winner right there.

Hi folks, time for an update.
Whilst Victoria is indeed sunny at the moment, the 0 degree mornings and chilly evenings are slowing progress on the wudtone curing front but I'm managing to stay patient. I expect the next couple of weeks will consist of hurry up and wait, steel wool, thin coat, hurry up and wait, steel wool, thin coat etc etc.
Aft 2 coats of base coat, this is where we are at. I want several more just to deepen the colour before the silver highlights get the nod.
