pics will be up tonight Gav, I took some this morning, I'm probably going to leave the neck clamped until Wednesday because it's damn cold here in Melbourne and the Titebond (I think it is) will take more time to cure!

Hmm... I strung it up today to check the height of the nut, it can be lowered, but I can't really do it at the moment, all I want is a working guitar now and I'll fiddle around with the details later, AND SHE IS ALIVE!!!!
The pups are *okay*, the electronics are *okay*, I bet some CTS pots and Switchcraft toggle switch will do the trick along with a couple Golden Age pups... *drools on the floor*....

I keep hitting the switch though becuase of my playing style, I might flip it and see if I hit it again...

Hmmmm... The volume pots seem to be a bit awkward, whenever I try to back off the volume, there is a massive crackle when my hand is turning the knob, and when it's really low (1 or 2) it needs to be held up towards the player...

Should I just grab some contact cleaner from Altronics until I get the cash to re-wire it?

Crackle is normally just dirty pots, yeah, but what do you mean by holding it up? You mean you have to force it up for it to work? Sounds like you've got a dud pot in that case. A good clean might give you some joy if it's just a bit of muck under it though.

like the shaft has to be tilted very slightly to work, I normally use my guitars "wide open" so it isn't really a problem

Be sure you haven't over tightened the pots. I have before and that caused me some problems. I don't know if that's your problem, just something to keep in mind.

I just came here to see if this thread was really 28 pages long. Yes, it's 28 pages long. I hear Steven Spielberg is sniffing around for the movie rights to this thread.
    Cheers,

    Adam
