    Ok, time for an update!!!
So I went outside and sanded back some high spots in the neck finish, but I accidentally went through the decal!!! So I ripped it off and used a waterproof marker to write Les Paul in the gap, and I also removed the nut to try and lower it a bit, should I try and use the PBG glue to fix it on??? Also, if I have to shim it with paper, will it also work with the PBG glue? My Wudtone brush is a bit thick now...

Just a spot of regular super glue will work for your nut

Pest! You dont want to be using paper to shim your nut! you will lose tone, just dont over do the nut process or you should rather throw that nut away and make another.
Ideally, you want the bone nut or brass nut to make direct contact with the wood. Provide maximum contact for maximum tonal benefit!

I will replace the nut with a bone one when I re-wire it, so the new parts plus drill bitz cost around $100(ish) so that's on the agenda!

Ok, so I glued the neck in today, so when the glue cures I can string it up and refine the nut height!!!
This will be a close shave on GOTM....

How did you go lining it up.

Don't rush setting it up just for GOTM. A good setup takes time to get right.

Can't wait to see some more pics of this Beast.

I found the alignment by clamping the neck in without the glue, and stringing up both e strings, then I slowly moved the neck until I got it right, then I repeated it but double-checked the alignment straight away after the clamp went on with the glue!

Cool.sounds like you had it covered.

Some good tips for when I do a set neck.

Hey Dan, it's pretty simple, make sure the alignment is correct before and after you apply the glue, and make sure that the scale length is good, then you will have a strong and awesome joint!

I took the clamp off the neck this morning to check, it's all holding strong!!! I realized that the body is damn heavy on my lap, but it's ok!
Now I'll keep the clamp on until I get back home from school, then I'll string it up and refine that nut height!!!
