Anyhoo, when you say "nib" are you talking about a little downwards pointing thing on the shaft side of the pot?
If so, just bend the blighter back 45 deg to the pot and it should sit flush...

oh, ok then DB, so bend the nibs 45 deg outwards?

Yep. That should work and hopefully you will be able to get the nut and washer on.

from mem that "nib" / tab is part of the casting of the base of the pot... bending may crack the diecasting there.. so for fastest and easiest fix is to file the tab flat with the base line....

AJ is right on the money with cast pot casings, but the ones supplied with our kits are pressed so bend away without fear!

Ok, thanks guys!
I applied the final top coat on the back and sides today, and I also did the first top coat on the neck!
The wiring harness is installed and ready to go, I just need to bend the nibs on the volume pots and wait for the new cap to arrive so it can be wired in, other than that I just have to apply the final top coat to the neck and glue it in, then she will roar through my amp!!

As we enter what I hope is the last week of having this baby lying in more than one piece, here's where I am:

The wiring harness is ready to go apart from the bridge cap, the neck pup sounds so sweet even though I have only played it using the 2 E strings! I also got the pots to sit in the body correctly, so that meant that all of the hardware is now in place!
The top coats on the body came up a treat, and today or tomorrow I'll do the second neck top coat, maybe I'll do 3, but after that the neck is going in and then she will be ready to hit the cameras for GOTM!!!
I hope the glue doesnt mess up my brush, but I have faith in my "Mayo Glue" and hope that a brush-thin layer will hold!

ok so I got the new cap wired in the bridge position (cheers DB!) and I got only a single coat of top coat on the fretboard just to see if it would make a difference, and it looks better with 1 single coat! I also did it to compensate for glue because 'wicking' CA glue into the sides of the frets actually increases energy transfer to the neck, therefore improving your tone (the frets version of Bone for Tone!)!!!
