Cheers guys. Long weekend coming up, should have a few hours to myself to get this baby together! Exciting (it's only been 2 and a half years...)!

That finish looks outstanding, well done!
For the copper tape to work as a Faraday Cage it needs to be earthed (that is connected somehow to the earth wire), you might want to lip the copper tape out of the holes so that it contacts the control plate (which is earthed through the pots) and the underside of the bridge so the whole box holding the electronics or pickups is earthed. You could run a strip from the front pickup to the control cavity under the plate.

Thanks Andy. I ran small strips out of each cavity just after I took the pic.![]()

Thought I'd have this one wrapped up yesterday. Had the entire afternoon to myself (son away at grandma's, wife entertaining herself with hula hoops and wine) so got everything assembled and the control panel wired up. That's when I realised my rookie mistake....
I decided to upgrade the switch to an Oak Grigsby and didn't make sure it would fit in the cavity. Guess what? It does not....
I now need to decide whether I'm going to try and gouge out 5mm from the bottom of the cavity or stuff it and put the cheap switch back in. Probably going to chuck the old one back in and then order a slimline replacement. I feel so dumb for not realising this earlier.

That's a real shame Pab, but these things are sent to try us. I had the 5 way switch that came with my kit that was way too tall for the cavity so I had to get a ring-in to replace it, but still had to deepen the cavity by 3mm to fit it in.
How do you entertain yourself with hula hops and wine? Anyhow, I guess the question is what is the thickness of the body between the bottom of the cavity and the back of the body, you wouldn't want to punch through! That's one big capacitor on there, what is it?
I guess the challenge is not to spill much...unless you are doing it to cut down your alcohol consumption.
I had the same issue and had to get the trusty Ozito rotary tool to chew up the newly laid copper tape.
Measure the switch and then the depth of the body to work out if you have enough room.
Then measure the cavity to work out how much deeper it has to go.
cheers, Mark.
My wife is a special, talented lady hahaha. She hula hoops semi professionally as a burlesque performer so she was practicing in the back yard and had a few glasses while she was doing it. Just to be clear, these were happening alternately. She wasn't trying to drink while spinning a hoop. That could have got messy.
Rough measurement says there is about 10mm of wood between the bottom. If it wasn't polished I would use a router to trim out 5 or 6mm to get clearance, but I don't want to risk scratching the finish up now so much effort has gone in to it. Using a chisel just seems way too risky with such a small tolerance.
Capacitor is a "Russian" paper in oil cap (K42Y-2). Old surplus military grade components. I bought a stack of them a few years ago and they are very good quality (and they look pretty cool too).
