I think thats what Sazzrandom did when she built her GRSF, except she did stain it before waxing.

Dingobass said that he used to sand the back of necks to 1500 (or 2000?) and leave them unfinished (preferred) or dingowax them if there had to be some finish.

I don't. I just tru oil all my necks as I refer it. I can't imagine you would want a harder finish than tru oil?

In saying that, I intend to use dingotone neck finish on my current Jazz bass build.

I have used TruOil on two necks - one maple, one mahogany. Then I have used Carnauba-containing furniture wax as my final layer and polished it. Quite nice

Awesome guys, thank you all for all your input, very helpful and many techniques to try and see what works for me. Thank you all again. I love this forum and site. Very helpful and learning a lot. Makes me want to build more and try out all these techniques. What a shame, i will end up with more basses ! Haha.

I Suspect you don't have five builds happening concurrently

I used Tung oil on a Warmoth neck I got. After a shit load of coats and polishing it up with some 0000 steel wool, it's the best neck i've personally ever felt.

I also use Tung oil on the back of necks and I just love it.
Soft and smooth and so easy to do.
