This free version doesn't have Melodyne included with it, though you can always purchase this separately and then it has the full integration into Sonar as it has previously. Obviously it can't go on being free, so expect to pay for upgraded versions in the future. But it shows that they are serious about continuing its development and luring back Sonar users who've jumped to another DAW after the Gibson closure of Cakewalk.
A mate of mine let me know about the free offer of Cakewalk by Bandlab, so that piqued my interest and I signed up to the Bandlab website, the only annoying bit of the signing-up process was sorting out a user name, it said that letters, numbers, and underscores were accepted as part of a username, but all combinations of letters, numbers, and underscores I tried weren't accepted, anyway, i got through it all and was able to download a free copy of Cakewalk, seems to run pretty well on Windows 10 64 bit, haven't had any issues so far...touchwood, I'm going to see if I can use Cakewalk's plugins in FL Studio, it looks like they both support VST plugins.
