    I agree with Simon. Unless the camera is showing something funny it looks like a primer has been applied over the veneer. In the close up photos you can see the wood although it is not highly figured it still has the color. I would try and post some better pictures but it is looking to me like your choices may be limited to cover them up.

    It seems a bit greyish and dull. What does the veneer look like when you swipe it with a damp cloth?

    Ok, that looks a bit better. However, the veneer is more prominent in the middle and the sides are less prominent. Overall I miss the figurement of the quilt.

    That looks better to me. It was probably just the way the light fell on it.

    No bridge or tailpiece holed drilled either. What are you planning to put on? A wrap-over bridge?

    Yes - from the picture advertising the kit it looked like the bridge was not pre-drilled so I am going to put in one of these...
