Cheers thanks. I think I will leave it alone, I agree it looks fine, I'm happy to have got that far without stuffing anything up

You're going fine Mike, the cutting and the routing/drilling are the most nerve wracking bits, because those are the ooopsies that are pretty hard to come back from. Even with the veneer tops, if you stuff the veneer you can go a solid colour over the top and still get a result. If you accidentally cut the head off your P Bass though, thats a little tougher to recover.

I reckon the shape's looking nice as it is! I was terrified about cutting the headstock, and the feeling of relief when I got the last cuts in without messing up was amazing.

Your jazz bass looks neat too. I keep meaning to replace the white scratch plate on my black p-bass with tortoiseshell, but I never quite seem to get around to it.

Well here is the final result. Used the mouse sander to tidy it up, and then by hand with the 240, 600 & 1200. I took a little too much off the top of the ball end but pretty happy.

Always a nervous experience doing your first headstock and you should be proud of yourself as that come out looking really good.

Thanks guys. Finished sanding with 1200. Gave her 3 coats of nitro sanding sealer clear from a spray can. Glad I had a good mask on cause this stuff really is potent! Will leave it overnight before wet sand tomorrow. Loving the build so far!
