Hey Jon, don't worry, just add to your last post "moderators please feel free to delete my double post"

purple is looking pretty good. Did you grain fill the body before the primer coat ?

Looks like I can see all the grain pores still

Or just edit it into a sweet Mr T pic. Everyone will love that!

    Looking good man. Nice colour.

no I didn't bother with grain filling the body because it was very smooth after i'd finished sanding it.

I think where I went wrong was adding that extra layer of chrome base coat (thought it would give it extra shine)
as it gave it a stubble-like effect in some areas. the purple coat was due to go on 30 minutes later so I was worried
if I allowed it to dry so that I could sand it smooth again, the anodizing effect might not work properly

as a result it has a bit of texture, which I don't mind.

I make punk music so it doesn't matter that my guitars aren't showroom perfect

Jon, give it a good wet sand and apply some more purple coats, should smooth out the surface

be worth masking your pup/control cavities and most importantly the neck pocket would be best paint free if the neck heel in the pocket was a tight fit during the pre build mock build

    good advice, thanks for that.

I've masking taped the neck pocket, learnt that was a necessity after the first kit I slapped together.

there is very little purple paint left, perhaps just enough to paint the headstock (haven't decided whether to leave it plain or paint)
may have to buy another can (which i'm reluctant to for $20 a can)

ok good I wasn't sure if the neck pocket was masked.

What clear coats are you using ? best use the same brand for compatibility, so stick with Dupli Colour
