    hahah no worries Barge, my biggest concern is to keep it away from the tele napper

    You're not wrong, it's gonna be a thing of beauty when it's all done. I quite like the look of these natural Teles double bound in black too.
    So the "1M" is a basswood body?

    yeah Barge body is basswood. Don't even think this kit is in the shop, it was the forum special that came with the butterscotch Dingotone - which I'll use on another build. The M is for maple neck.
    Its got some pretty nice grain on the side and back for basswood.
    In hindsight black binding would have looked killer with the black hardware. Maybe next time

    Yeah it's pretty underrated as far as figure goes I reckon, like you say, if you get a nice one they can look the business.
    Too bad it's so damn soft.

    yeah lately I think the factory have been sourcing some nicer timber than in the past.
    Your dead right the basswood dents very easily but on the plus side its easy to sand !

    cheers Andrew, the veneer is close to 1mm thick at a guess, definitely thicker than the flame maple caps on the G type kits are more like 0.6mm thick
