    here's pics after the cap got 2nd stain coat. Also got back and sides done in jarrah stain.
    Will leave to cure for the week then put a intensifying coat on the cap.

    So, is that karajini red? Darker than the other examples I've seen. What a great cap you've got yourself there.

    Hey Pablo,
    yeah its karajini red. It looks like red wine colour in the bottles. Very happy with the cap although there are a few glue smears on it that I couldn't remove, was too worried about sanding through the ultra thin cap must be 0.5mm or less !
    Think the spalted caps make stains look a bit darker than they are on other timbers

    Nice grain on the cap...
    I was thinking of buying that spalted maple LP-kit...
    I know i'm just a noobie on here but as carpenter i must recommend scraping the glue marks.
    Instead of sanding...
    But if it is that thin, the glue could as well be all the way thru the cap veneer...
    I'm looking forward to the progres

    Hey Dave, cheers for the comments, I'd love to remove the glue marks but seriously the cap is about 0.5mm thick, I'm not going to risk scraping or sanding through it. Once I cover the cap in about 3 or 4 more coats hopefully the glue marks won't be so obvious
