They're a good lookin' guitar no doubt about that but I know they can be real temperamental dogs as far as playability goes, I'd love to hear from someone who's actually put one together.

not sure Barge, I've only seen about 2 build (DB for Ads and Lawry) and have'n't heard any negative feedback - pardon the pun. Mike is also building a white JM-1 but think its not built yet

I'm interested in a few kits, not building too many though one reason I'm stretching this one out.

one that interests me is TDL-1TP, so may be a bit later.

Tonight I went through my parts, found the Schaller machine heads that I put on my gibson early 80's. Have put original tuners back on so I will use these on the ASH, put them on tonight to see how they look.
    (pic 1& 2)

I also changed the pup's so will be using them also. there is a dimarszo super distortion for the neck, a seymour duncan for the bridge (unknown moddle, but it is hotter that the super distortion), and I have a seymour duncan P94 which I'll put in the middle. Hopefully with some different wiring that may take a little time to get right

Pic 3 another view of the back (sunbaking)

    Rick

I would not be putting the body in the sun.... UV can do some strange things to stains and timbers, not to mention it may dry the outside enough to cause internal stresses that may result in splitting or warping.

There is always a workaround for glitches, mistakes and other Guitar building gremlins.....
