    @Lawry,
    Thanks for that - I'll look into it.
    @Frets - have you done a JD Sleep build before? How'd it go?
    Sorry Brendan I missed your question.

    All my pedal making attempts have been flops, apart from my A/B box. But I never used a kit, I think all my attempts at making PCBs were the problem as I could often get it to work on the breadboard. I did hang out on Aron Nelson's pedal message board for a year or so. Aron, JD, Zac Vex, Mike Fuller are all really nice guys who are more than happy to help. Just like the guys on this board.

    Brendan, I've used a few boxes like this in the past for test and adapter boxes at work. I would clean the surface with a scotchbrite pad and cleaning solvent then apply any lettering and follow up with a clear laquer. Quick and easy brushed aluminium look.

    Sounds like a great idea DJ - think I will go with that. So sanded body back last night (they come pretty dinged up) then went back up the grits to a finish I'm somewhat happy with - could go on further and get it shinier, but relatively happy with what I've got. Need to organise some stickers and some clear to go over the top, then a solderin' I'll go.

    Had another look - didn't feel I needed to add any lettering / decals as I'm hoping it'll be pretty self explanatory. May not even go with a clear coat - it'll get dinged up etc, but that's all character .

    Finally finished. Got it all wired up the other day and ... red light goes on, hit the foot switch - green light goes on, green light flickers and goes off. Hit switch - red light goes on and hit switch again and green light doesn't go on. Tap switch and green light goes on then off.... AARRRGHHH!! Out comes an hour or two of pfaffing around and turns out it's the foot switch - good 'ol eBay gave me a foot switch with one dud terminal out of nine... Bugger... Anyway couple of pics! No text / lettering - I figured if you need it then you need to be doing something different - the LED's are over the input jacks and the output jack is on the side of the box. If I end up giving it away to someone then I may review, but until then au natural it is. First one - no lights as there's nothing in the stereo (output) jack. Second - red light on, hit switch and third - green light on. All in all ~$25 (especially with the dud switch) a good couple of hours and I'm pretty happy.
