Thread: January Guitar of the Month

  1. #11
Here's our very first International entry. Byron from the US has submitted this LP-1 finished in his own custom blue. I'll let him explain:

"Since I couldn't find exactly the right blue stain I wanted, I went to the local office supply store and picked up some water based blue and black ink that is normally used for refilling stamp pads. In a container with a little bit of water, I added the ink until it was about the right color. I made 3 mixtures to try and make a burst effect (black, dark blue, and blue). I then applied it to scrap wood to see how it looked and made adjustments to the mixes as necessary. It's a little bit outside the box, but turned out pretty well I think."

Headstock inspired by Bart Simpson (I think Wokka and Byron would get along)

    Cheers,

    Adam

Another entry for January Guitar of the Month. This one, another LP-1 from Phillip.

"This is my first kit build guitar and I was pleasantly surprised with how it worked out. First I stained it black then sanded out to enhance the grain, then Cedar Feast Watson spirit stain, followed by 2k clear. Used all stock parts except for the mity mite pickups that I have had since the 70's. First set up and play was pleasing and it sounds great. I will be doing some more in the future."

    Cheers,

    Adam

AJ, we discussed this when you were paroled from the NAUGHTY CORNER, it's not whether you win or lose GOTM but that you made the effort to enter.....
