Thread: Quick Start Guide

  1. #11
Good people, I've made a start on our Quick Start Guide. You can review at the link below. You can probably even edit it, but I'd suggest posting your proposed edits in this thread before altering the document.

I want to keep this at two pages, so there's not a lot of room to add stuff. Remember, the main point of this is to reassure customers that there are instructions available, on the site. We want people to go to the Forum for help, especially Gavin and DB's excellent "How to build your Pit Bull Electric Guitar" thread.

So, let me know what you think we've missed or what should be removed.

    Cheers,

    Adam

Forgot the other Tele kits, forgot the SG vid, forgot the Strat vid, RC-1 wiring is the same as the LP (ya forgot that!), PBG-2 wiring is the same as the LP-1 wiring, not the EX-1, FV-1 has 2 volumes and 1 tone, not 1 volume 1 tone... other than that the whole guide is great Adam!

Quick start guide is a great idea. You seem to have everything covered.

Sorry Gav, Jameson's induce dyslexia. I'll be sure to fix that.

While I've got you, the only part I've done differently to your instructions, is that I suggest wiring the pickups before attaching the neck and pickups. Is there are specific reason you had it the other way around?
    Cheers,

    Adam

Gav, for some reason I missed your earlier post in this thread saying you would like to do this. If that's still the case, maybe you can have a go and give me your Word version. Then, I'll dress it up with graphics and illustrations. Then we'll put it back to the Forum and see what everyone thinks (or if there are any edits needed). How does this sound?
    Cheers,

    Adam

For my LP I clamped the neck in and adjusted to fit and drilled everything from there, then when i was ready, everything was lined up and it was a breeze!

No particular reason for doing it my way. Probably better to do it your way just thinking about it. Would certainly stop me bashing the neck against the compressor in my electronics bay!

Yes, still keen to do this. I thought we had it pretty much done at first attempt. I'll redo it in Word.....

With many thanks to Gavin, we've finally got a Draft Quick Start Guide.

This is not an Instruction Manual, just something out of the box to get builders heading in the right direction. Obviously there's many mentions of the Forum, where most of the knowledge is now stored.

I was hoping you regulars could have a look and give me your constructive feedback.

I want to keep it to 4 pages so its an A3 double sided "booklet".

I was hoping to print some on Monday, so if you've got any feedback it would be great to receive it by Sunday night.

    Thanks.
