I remember the ads from Guitar Player Magazine back Derringer looked like that, and I thought Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo was the coolest song ever. Add says it could dial in coil splits, and phase switching. Also has a Varitone, which might be fun....

Thanks. I did not know this. I had only heard one of his tunes - off an 80's compilation album.

As far as the switches go - some Mockingbirds do have a lot! Maybe I will try to be a bit more adventurous!

    More progress:
Today I put two strips of pine inlay into the top of the body. I first built a template (from scrap!) and used it to route the two 20 mm wide channel to a depth of 8 mm (the size of my pine strips). They required a bit of sanding to fit the contours. I will glue them in after I have stained the body. I also had to redrill a ground wire hole to the lower stop post, a neck volume pot' hole and lower the deck thickness for the neck volume pot'.

I admit that I was a bit worried about trying this, but I think all went well. i.e. no major stuff ups!

Wow the stripes/strips are looking great! Your Made-of-scrap jigs look great too. Mine are often nearly indistinguishable from the scraps that go out to the trash.

A bit more sanding to 240 g on the body. I also noticed a few little dings in the body (possibly from clamping when I routed the stripes), so I tried the hot soldering iron on a damp cloth trick - I'm very impressed with the results.

I have also added a slurry of Timbermate cedar coloured filler to raise the grain and fill the pores.
