Well...yes. That's basically all there is to it. All but the hope part... You want to make sure you get a good contact.
Use a piece of stranded wire. Here's how I do it. I put the wire through the hole where the post goes and fish it out of the F-hole (diamond hole in your case ;-) ). I strip off about 12mm of the insulation and fan out the strands as in the pic. I feed the wire through the little hole inside the post hole so that just the strands are sticking out, and I hammer in the post over the strands. Then I use an ohm meter to test with one lead on the post and one lead on the end of the wire sticking out of the F-hole to make sure there's continuity.
So far it has always worked without a hitch, but if it ever doesn't you'll need to repeat the process. But if you fan out the strands it should work without problems. I have done it with chrome and gold hardware. YMMV with black since the coating on black hardware is not always conductive. On yours it should be fine though!
