Back to the wiring now and I got problems. Neck pick up dead. Bridge fine and dandy.

Checked and double checked all my wiring and still Nada. I’m hoping that it’s the neck volume pot that’s dodgy or broken and not the neck pick up. Eek.

Is that the neck pot bottom left? I'd say there is a very good chance you've cooked it going by the amount of solder on there.

It may be a good idea to invest some time in soldering technique.

    cheers Mark.

Well it’s not the toggle switch as I swapped the neck and bridge connections around and it still only the bridge pickup that works.

Please please please don’t be a bust pick up

I’ll change the pot tomorrow. Hoping we have one at work.

That’s actually the bridge pot where everything in the entire universe is earthed!!!!

It’s not pretty but the issue doesn’t lie with that pot I don’t think.

The pot on the right is the neck pot and it does have a lot of solder on it as this is the second time I’ve built this loom. It is possible that it’s all fried. I’m going to run some electric meters over it today.

Sorted the pickup. It wasn’t wired properly to be a humbucker. Only a single coil hence the drop in power. One quick solder later. Bingo. It all works.

Three attempts to get thebwiring in. Phew. You will be able to see the cables in the back of the body but at this point I don’t care. It’s bloody in. And starting to look very pretty.

I need to install my bridge pins. A test fit tells me they are TIGHT!!! Bit nervous about just banging them in (gently of course) do I need to widen the holes at all?? I’m using different pins that can with my roller bridge not the stock PB ones.

    Advice please gang?

Usually putting them in the freezer first helps. That’s providing the replacement ones aren’t dramatically larger than the kit ones. Do you have some calipers to compare sizes ?

Nice idea. I do have something to measure them with so I’ll check. Thanks
