Gav, this book suggests the reverse of what we do. Dye wood, seal then grain fill. I've got some scrap wood for testing..

Gav, please sit down. We have to talk.

While we all great appreciate the beauty of the guitars that you seem to be birthing on an almost weekly basis, we believe that the incredible results and the speed with which you are achieving them is unsettling to the other residents here at Pitbull Gardens. Now I'm not saying I believe these rumours, but there have been some whispers that such results are not possible for mere mortals and that you must be taking some performance enhancing.... what's the word.... "substances".

Now I'm sure everything is quite legit, but maybe for the sake of appearances it would be good if you just tried to slow down the pace a little and maybe tried to make a few mistakes or something.

Look I'm really glad we've had this talk, and I'm sure we will have no more "problems" of this sort going forward.

Yes, as you can tell, I'm jealous. Great job as usual Gav. A truly beautiful guitar.

@andrew - very interesting! this warrants some experimenting. I wonder how to sand off the grain filler without taking off the dye. carefully i suspect!

@fretty - ROFL. damn man. that's the problem with having a stack of kits and working from home. not much actual work seems to get done!! for the sake of my reputation i better slow down a little .

    cheers,
    Gav.

Fretty was too polite, I'm calling you out Gav: you sold your soul to the Devil in trade for shiney guitar skills...

    Looks like technique is basically:
    1. Dye Wood
    2. Seal Wood
    3. Grain fill, clean up.
    4. Final finish

I rather like the hexadecimal numbering of you builds Gav.

There are 10 types of people in the world.
Those who understand ........ and those who don't ( I leave it up to those who know to finish the line )
