And an illustration of the wee bit of misalignment that we managed to engineer in:

Whether or not this joint is actually any good is going to be an interesting question. The misalignment is not severe, and it is intended to be a an inline offset head anyway, a la Jackson/Ibanez so I think it is probably worth the time to try and work it through to its final form just to see how it turns out.

If I string it up on something and it blows apart under tension, then so be it. But along the way it can be useful as an experiment in fretting and also inlay and neck finishing, so why not?

Next exercise is going to be routing the truss rod channel, and getting it roughed out.

Looking good so far, I'm going to keep following this thread cause I'm interested in seeing how Scarf-Jointed necks are made.

Hopefully the joint should hold. The glue makers always say that the glue is stronger than the wood and the string tension is partly pulling down on the joint, holding it together rather than forcing it apart. Plus you'll also be sticking a fretboard on top, so you'll add even more strength.

Yes, that's the theory Simon, at the end of the day it's an experiment really. I do want it to produce a result; if that result is back to the drawing board then so be it. In the interim it's an interesting diversion while things dry/ cure.

Quite a few acoustic guitar necks are built this way, and I believe acoustics have higher tensions than electrics.
    Acoustics:
    1995 Maton EM725C - Solid 'A' Spruce Top, QLD Walnut B&S, AP5 Pickup
2015 Ibanez AEL108MD-NT - Laminated Spruce top, Laminated Mahogany B&S, Fishman Sonicore Pickup

Mm 13 sets, I used to string my Epiphone with 13-56 thomastik jazz flatwounds, BEEFY gauge strings. Tonally much superior to #8 fence wire and much easier to get to tension.

Speaking of Fencing there is this gem from back home:

I had .013"s on my acoustics for quite a while. Now generally on 0.012"s on them.
