I don't have any experience in this, but I would think perhaps having the timber damp, or steamed to give it some flexibility, but how that will work with the glue is another matter.
Sorry, not much help in this situation.

Thanks mate, not sure but when i dampened it to flatten it, it curled up something shocking, might be too hard to glue then. Thanks for your reply mate

Try posting on DB's Corner as that should hopefully grab his attention and bring you a response.

I have never done anything with veneers so cannot give you any better ideas.

    one idea:
wet your veneer to make it pliable, place it on the top of your guitar - no glue.
Weight it down with sandbags or your vacuum press, leave it to dry.
Perhaps sandbags as the vacuum press might not allow it to dry.
Hopefully, then you have a veneer that conforms to the top.
    Now glue and vacuum press

Tindrrel tried to do the same thing to his ST and wasn't able to get the veneer to follow all the curves.

The veneer will curve to a degree, just remember it's wood not plastic. You'll probably end up with some thing similar to the SG-1F, only veneered on the flat surface. Hope this helps.

Ok Neverwas, i took a good look at the SG-1F and your right, that is the way to go, only veneer on the flat surfaces. Im going to scrap the vacuum bag idea and use weights, thanks for the help man.

Well went ahead and glued down the veneer las night. Checked it this morning its not too bad, bit rippley but glue is still soft. Used titebond glue, covered it with melamine board and put 5 tins of paint on top, about 50 kilos, now the wait.
