Of course the being on crack comment was in reply to calling Stryper a bunch of hacks... I mean come on, what other "Christian" band ever released an album titled "To hell with the devil"... That's of poetic artistry on par with Spinal Tap's "Smell the Glove".

As for masking supplies, I get most of my stuff from the Airbrush Mega Store. Frisket (and sometimes 3mm tape) I buy at the local art supply store. Super Cheap Auto carries the green 5mm line tape. I have a sign-shop across the street if I happen to run out of transfer tape, they will borrow me some. If I need stencils I usually use AirSick in California (free shipping).

Thats why I re commented, i was trying to be sarcastic but even I read it back and thought it was serious lol..... Do ya get auto air from Steve at Mega air brush too, or do you know of a better suplier.

Yeah I order my AA from Steve too... However, if I need Createx I usually have that imported from the US. Hobby Lobby sells every color under the sun and even with delivery, if the order is around a 100 dollars (or up) it's usually cheaper.

Oh and I buy the green painter tape from Bunnings. It's a dollar 5 a roll. They usually hide it because it is so crap! LOL but the beauty of it is, it's so crap! Meaning, it's super low tack and brilliant for artwork. In my local bunnings it's on the bottom shelf BELOW the 3M stuff.

Anywho, back to the wasp guitar. For clean lines (although cutting painters tape is a neat trick) don't use a paper based tape. Try and get your hands on what the automotive guys refer to as "fine line tape". The blue stuff that 3M makes (airbrush mega store sells it if you can't find it locally) is really good. It's really easy to curve, that's what it's made for. Unless you know how to handle a razor blade or Exacto knife I'd stay away from Frisket. It's really really thin and cutting it you easily run the risk of cutting into your guitar instead of just the masking material.

Thats the stuff only we always called it straight edge but yes 3mm blue. Awsome for curving around the tightest of rads and bleed free.

Thank you for the really solid advice, gents. I'll have a hunt and see if I can't come up with some of that tape for future works. Still, considering I didn't use a 'pro' tool (a.k.a. a gun) nor 'pro' mask for the stripes, I'm pretty stoked how it came up for my first try. Let's hope I can only get better from here. And, I mean, with awesome advice available all over the forum, how could I not get better, right...?

Now I just need to save my pennies and then somehow justify to myself buying an air-brush (and another kit)... Hmmm... :P

If your future plans don't involve painting artistic detail you are probably better off with a touch up gun (HVLP) than an airbrush. Rule of thumb, if you can get the results with rattle cans you don't need anything smaller than a touch up spray gun. Matter of fact you will end up wanting one anyway because it is damn near impossible to get even coverage with an AB.

Andrew got an awesome bargain from Super Cheap with 3 guns, a tank and fittings, and I'm spewing I didn't see it in time to grab one too...

Mate, don't know where u live but if it's a place with a decent population check out gumtree for a compressor. That's your expensive bit, then hoses and fittings are reasonably cheap from the green shed and the guys here could point you to a gun that'd do colour/clear without breaking the bank. Yeah the kit I got was a steal but the guns were a 1.4 tip which is about right for colours and clear, a 1.8 that'd only ever get used for primers which I don't use and a .8 touch up gun which again I don't use. With a single gun you can also get different needles for different paint types as well while I'm almost certain mine are just a package deal, no replacement needles so if I need a part, it's a whole new gun.

As for the airbrush, it was only used for the burst on the lp where it was then1.4 gun all round for the marble Tele. I took Jarrod's advice in his vid on clear coating and ended up getting an inexpensive dual action gun from hobby king. All up with the brush, hose and fittings, a .2, .5 and .8 needles and caps was under $40 delivered. Maybe a touch up gun would be a good all rounder, not too sure how a .8 or so tip would go spraying a guitar sized piece. Lucky we have some paint gurus here to set us straight.
