@Adam - thanks for the kind words. Still got a few days work left on it, and I've got to travel for work in a week or so, so I might not get it done for March. We'll see. Nice to know it might be in the running. But we'll have to see! I hear a whisper that certain divas in the community may also have guitars ready so I might be scared off for March as well .

    Cheers,
    Gav.

    LOL.

Well technically a male diva is a divo - but around here that's still reserved for the 80s geek rockers (ignoring the italian spelling of course)

Maybe I could stretch to 'virtuosos' ???

    cheers,
    Gav.

wow Gav that looks sensational, after all the issues you had must be good to get it almost completed. How is the action and how does it play, any fret buzz ?
Sure it will be a very strong contender for March GOTM, not sure which card I will play, I should have a choice of 4 axes to enter by end of February.

@Wokka, @Lawry, @Jarrod - thanks for the compliments guys. Fortunately (for me!) this one is staying right here! Just the wiring to go, but that seems a little daunting at the moment. Need to psych myself up for it. The action is a little high Wokka, but I haven't done a new nut for it yet. I think it will be more than playable, but still a little higher than I like... I guess I'll have to wait and see on that score.

    cheers,
    Gav.

    hi guys,

Well I should have been working today, but who can cut code when the guitar is sitting over on the bench wanting some TLC? Not me. Instead I got the wiring harness done. It's all but complete, but I haven't actually tested it with the actual pickups/switch etc. I did test each wire as I went to make sure there were no shorts to ground so fingers crossed it should be OK.

As far as the circuit was concerned I used 50's vintage wiring with the independent volume mod. I also plan to add the treble bleed mod, but I'll wait until I can hear it actually strumming first to make sure it will sound like I want. The hardware is all custom, with CTS 500k pots, orange-drop caps and a Switchcraft output jack. Luxury!!

This is the first time I've used this 'Shielded Push-Back Wire' from Stewmac to build a wiring harness. I've gotta say that, whilst I haven't actually got the wiring harness in through the F-hole yet, once I got used to using this particular type of shielded cable I quickly grew to love it. So much easier to ground the shielding than the plastic coated 'Shielded Circuit Wire' from Stewmac that I used on my last 2 hollow-body builds. Just solder it straight to the backs of the pots. Brilliant!

Anyway now I need to head to Jaycar to get more heat shrink tubing before I can start to connect her up and test. I can't wait to hear these GFS Dream 180 pickups scream!

    cheers,
    Gav.

looks very well done Gav, very tidy, sure it will work fine. That shielded push back wire sounds good. Bet those GFS pickups will scream. Lets hope you get it finished before you go away.
Wish I had the option to build guitars rather than go to work !

@Wokka - thanks dude. yeah really looking forward to hearing these Dream 180s! The CTS pots I used for the harness are alot larger than the stock ones so I'm hoping this isn't going to be a problem come installation time. Only time will tell I guess. Time to get that aquarium pipe out again!

    cheers,
    Gav.
