@phrozin would that stuff be compatible with rustoleum flat primer and Dulux metallic blue paint? I was going to use Dulux 2k clear https://www.bunnings.com.au/dulux-du...paint_p1400741 but after seeing your work and recommendations I may just use sca acrylic clear. I didn't think sca acrylic clear was suitable for wood?

EDIT: Dulux 2k clear is $26 for 125g and SCA acrylic clear is $12.59 for 400g <-------- better value.

The Dulux Duramax metallic blue is a Enamel base paint the SCA Acrylic clear lacquer isn't suitable to go over Enamel, the 2k clear is 125g which isn't much paint you really should stick to the same range of paint for the primer, color and clear for the best results. I haven't used Duramax so not 100% sure about it. I think you should go with lacquer they have a lot more choice of color and and can look killer. I have sprayed SCA clear lacquer over straight basswood and over stain on Ash wood.

i use automotive paints provided you use the correct primer they give a great look. if i went 2k it wouldn't be enamel 2k i would go with a acrylic 2k. You can use anything to paint guitars, guys use tru-oil, wipe on poly and so one i personally don't like that look i am more traditional when it comes to painting guitars using acrylic or nitro all though nitro has pretty much gone now as its soft when it hot and shrinks when its cold and eventually cracks i have done about 30 guitars and have great results most guitars you buy use nitro, acrylic or 2k any way i am digressing

if you haven't purchased your paints go with lacquer

here is a SCA clear over straight basswood and over stain on ash wood and over dye
