It would look cool if you had a matching headstock

Does that pickguard have a dull sheen instead of a shiny gloss one? If so where did you buy it?

It’s actually the white pearloid one that came with the kit. I’ve just roughed it up with 220 grit paper and hit it with the same black rattle can as the body.
If you want a flat black one custom cut, talk to Pablopepper, he can do them for you at a reasonable cost. If this one doesn’t work out then that’s what I’ll be doing.

So now that the stripes are done, do I just build up a bucketload of clear coats to take up the slight step between colours? Or is it advisable to try a light sand?

Hey Franky looking sweet mate nice job on the stripes. If there are slight ridges between the join lines I would give it a light wet sand with at least 1200 grit paper. The clear coats will level off after 3 or 4 coats of clear.
As long as you have enough colour coats built up.
    Current Builds and status
scratch end grain pine tele - first clear coat on !
    JBA-4 - assembled - final tweaks
Telemonster double scale tele - finish tobacco burst on body and sand neck

    Completed builds
scratch oak.rose gum Jazzmaster - assembled needs setup
    MK-2 Mosrite - assembled - play in
Ash tele with Baritone neck - neck pup wiring tweaks and play in
