Hi Shazz, that colour looks great, I'm also using the Karijini Red.
So how many coats do you think you used on the outer part on the front face?

Hey JohnC, I used the Uluru red. I did 3 overall and 6-7 on the edges to achieve the burst

Thanks Shazz, thought you used the Karijini, looks great anyway.
I'm thinking of using a similar number of coats (have used 4 so far, but the wood colour is still showing through), for a nice deep red.
So you used about 2 bottles of stain all up?

Heya mate, I did use about 2 bottles All up. As I went for the burst effect I wouldn't be able to say how much would be needed to get an even deep tone all over. If the sides (wall) are anything to go by I did I think 7 coats on them, and that was about half the stain of 1 bottle. I did only 2 intensifying coats over all and like 4-5 on the edges to get the burst effect really happening.

How's the bone nut you made working out?, have you had a chance to string the guitar up and give it a play test yet?

I went back to the start of this diary and Shazz used Uluru red, not Karijini red.
I'd apply a couple coats and see how yours looks. Post some pics on your build diary and we can all comment

Having that coke can next to the guitar gave it a distinct 50's vibe, that's the impression I got anyway.

Yeah I very much got the rockabilly vibes from it not just cause of the style but the colour also!
