I don't think I have any photos of my ash tele post-dye/pre-poly, but I seem to remember it looking significantly paler before the clear coat went on, and it finished up with the lovely red you saw in the my pics.

    Looking good too.

    Thanks for the input chaps.

I'll take it outside tomorrow and give it a once over to see if I've missed any areas.
...also see if there's some patchiness in colour and then take it from there.

    cheers, Mark.

Went over it again with a cotton bud.
Small pores where the stain hadn't reached.

    Then on to the Tru-Oil.
    First coat of many.

Thanks McCreed, in real life it isn't quite so 'warm' red.
I'll probably have to see if I can get a better way to take a photo.
Up to 3 coats and counting.

edit: Afer something that Oli eluded to, I"m thinking of upgrading the pickups to 'humbuckers' like these.
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Wilkinso...r/143597562682

I will then probably utilise the 3-way switch that came with the kit which will mean I'll have 3x 3-way switch combinations all up.
Some mind boggling to occur working out the wiring.

    cheers ,Mark.

Hey Mark, Ive also ordered two hot rail typepickups.
And while waiting have been contemplating the type of wiring i will pursue. I like your idea and will be watching closely your evolution!!
If you find a schematic id really appreciate if you could share it here.

Ps: ive been playing this guitar every day and it is super comfortable. Im so impressed with its size it is a real cracker of a guitar.

O.K. Oli, I found one that wasn't quite what I was after and did some crude alterations.
This is only part of it.
I figure that the 3-way switch, tone pot wiring would be easy to imagine.

Is Wilkinson hardware good quality & value? I'm looking at upgrading the bridge on my P Bass and they're slightly more cost effective than the Gotoh and original Fender parts.

    Thanks!
