For sure, been having a pretty rough time lately, hopefully the Zero-Glide nuts get both guitars up and running again.

I was doing some browsing in youtube and came across the ChinaGuitarSceptic channel, been checking out some of the videos on that channel and one video in particular caught my interest, it was about fake Epiphone pickups:

I compared the original pickups from my Chibson SG with the ones in the video clip and they looked identical, so, my Chibson SG had fake Epiphone pickups installed when it was manufactured, what this means is that these Chinese manufacturers are not only making fake guitars, they're also making fake pickups as well.

Just thought I'd do a quick update:

When I first tried out the new Entwistle HV58 pickups I had installed in the SG guitar, at first I thought that they sounded like they were a bit weak in output level, then I realized that the Bridge pickup height had been set too low due to the height-adjustment springs being fully compressed, anyway, I tried replacing the springs with the ones from the old pickups and found that I could set the pickup height for both pickups properly, with the high and low E-Strings fretted at the fret closest to the body, i have the pickups heights set so that there's about a 2mm gap between the pickup and the string, I then put strings on the guitar, tuned it up, and tried it out, I have to say that I'm liking the Entwistle HV58 pickups alot, they seem to have more midrange than the old ones did plus they don't squeal, the guitar has a vintage vibe to the tone.

To my ears the old ones sounded a bit grainy and bland when using an overdrive tone.

I think the Entwistle HV58 Pickups should work well as pickup upgrades for LP style kits, ES335 style kits, Explorer kits (if you want more of a vintage tone), Flying V style kits too, maybe even Gretch kits as well.

So there's something for you if you're wondering which pickups to get for your next kit.

I'm going to see if I can record a quick demo of my SG guitar with the Entwistle HV58 pickups installed in them today so you guys can get a bit of an idea what they sound like, since I need to renew my account with Soundcloud but don't have the money for it at the moment, I'll upload the demo clip to my dropbox and post the public link here for you so stay tuned.

Here we go, here are a couple of links to some sound demos of the two Entwistle HV58 pickups I installed in my Angus SG guitar, had to do a bit of filing in the nut slots of the Tusq XL nut just to get the strings to ring out clearly, the first one uses the British 900 Clean preset of Bias Desktop just to give you an idea what the HV58 pickups sound like with a clean Marshall sound, the second demo uses the 69 Super Lead preset of Bias Desktop so you can hear what the HV58 pickups sound like with an overdriven Marshall sound, the Angus SG was plugged straight into my Digi002 Firewire Audio Interface, and the DAW I used was FL Studio 12 Producer Edition, sorry about my playing, I'm a bit out of practice and these are just to give you an idea what the pickups sound like....enjoy!!

Cheers Swanny, I'm feeling pretty happy with those HV58 pickups and I think I chose well.
