Hey buddy. Awesome first effort, that's one slick LP.

Well duh...I must have been having a "mans look" as my missus would say, thanks mate, appreciated.

    Folks, the scores are in...

I know we say it every time, but the standard of this comp is getting so high, judging is getting to be really difficult.

Remember, when the entries are flawless, as most of these were, the judging really comes down to personal preferences and which guitar you would most be drawn to if it were in a shop.

So, nobody should feel disheartened if their entry didn't make the podium.

Ok, first off, an honourable mention to Bargeloob's LP-1M, which came in 4th and missed the podium by half a nose. Bargeloob, you should be really proud of this build, it is simply magnificent. We should also mention that this guitar attracted the most "Likes" on Facebook.

In third place, as we said, by half a nose, is Scott's TL-1AR.

Scott, you know I had your back mate, but the judges wouldn't listen to my idea of changing the comp to TOTM and disqualifying anything not Tele shaped. Spoil sports.

"Classic Tele. Workmanship is as perfect as one would expect from Scott. Simply faultless."

"Overall a very well executed Tele style guitar. Loved the Made in Oz stamp!"

"I love this guitar. Simple = beautiful."

"This looks so sweet, Scott. Beautifully built and such an excellent colour choice, a truly classic Tele. The level of build quality you have achieved here is brilliant. Simple, but so classy."

In second place, again missing first place by the smallest possible margin, is Gavin Turner's ES-2T.

"Beautiful" (a common theme to all the judges feedback).

"This is one very attractive guitar. The flamed maple top is spectacular. Beautifully prepared and executed."

"This is truly a gorgeous guitar, Gav. You have covered all bases here, nothing has been overlooked, and the build quality looks superb. It oozes total class and sophistication."

"Stunning... If I was a Guitarist I would sooooo want this!"

    Nice work Gavin!

    And...

    In first place...

JohnnyChronic's RC-1 really impressed the judges.

"It's Ricci-time. This has the Wow factor for me. All the extra detail and effort to make this something special appeals to me."

"Beautifully finished - looking better than the real thing! Also love how the front of the pickguard is raised from the rest of the pickguard."

"Wow, what a beautiful job, Johnny. Looks like it’s straight off the factory floor! The sunburst, quality of finish and attention to detail is a credit to you. Such a quality build."

"Speechless. Pablopepper said it with "duuuuuuuuuuuude. Wicked RC there""

Congratulations Johnny! And thanks to all the other builders who entered.
    Cheers,

    Adam

Scott and Gav. Your guitars are gorgeous and I dip my lid to you both. But if Johnny's guitar were in a shop I went into I would get it down and play it till my fingers bled. Congratulations man! A real winner in my eyes.

I couldn't agree more with the judges on these picks, they're all exceptional builds and guitars I'd love to have hanging in my collection, just superb attention to detail, you guys blow my mind.
Having said that, now I've caught the guitar building bug and have got the first one out the way along with all the newbie teething problems that come with it I'm fired up and ready come out guns blazing with my "LP Blacktop".
    Look out lads...

A big congratulations to Johnny for his flawless Ricky build. There was never a doubt in my mind as soon as I saw it. I am stoked to get 2nd place in such a fierce competition, although I did expect Lawry's bass to occupy my podium spot. All the builds were fantastic, and in my mind any of the axes could easily have come in 2nd and 3rd. Well done all!!

    cheers,
    Gav.

Mindbogglingly good entries and congrats to the placegetters & all entrants.
My complaint: Standard is now TF high, to the point where one needs to create a masterpiece just to be in the hunt :|

Well done Johnny... cant go past a Ricci!

To all the other guys, your builds were exceptional, my personal favourite was Lawry's Fretless Bass...
Take a bow Lawry, you get DB's best Bass in show award!

There is always a workaround for glitches, mistakes and other Guitar building gremlins.....

Johnny and Gavin, congratulations and well-deserved kudos to both of you ... your axes are both truly worthy of all the accolades, and personally I'm super chuffed to be chosen to share the podium with both of you.

I'm also very humbled when I look at the superb competition that this month brought out - Bargeloobs, Wokka, Dieter, Lawry and Wayne, you all produced such excellent axes ... its one thing be judged good enough to go on the podium but just to be able to go up against such quality competitors is the true honour!

... I'm just seriously glad that I didn't have to judge!

Adam, you and I both know that the Tele certainly does stand apart from the crowd ... but if the rest of the world all had as good taste as us, then there's a chance (admittedly very small! ) that it might just be that little bit boring! ha ha ha ... (or maybe not! )

Wait a minute ... that sounds like Rock and/or Roll!

SG-1 ... "Little Miss" finished in Flamenco Cherry Wudtone
TL-1A ... "Slugger" finished in Antique White Nitro
EX-1 ... "Metal God" finished in nickel-plate (work in progress)
ST-1A ... "Scrapper" stained and finished in linseed oil ... and with the "secret weapon"
GR-1SF ... "Rocker-billy" (just arrived, work in progress)
