classical fret boards are essentially flat, so you'll have to get your neo classical metal on!
just make them match, i think you will be fine, in the end it's just a number, go by feel

You make a good point, Stan. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Hey Pabs i am about 2 seconds off an orbital sander and 80grit on this non PBG 335 thing me bob.
Cant win a trick
I'd be a little worried about what you'll find under that veneer Tones. I at least had a good idea from the back side.

Pabs you're freaking me out. I've been layin down the TO coats in this warmer weather but haven't had an issue as yet, mind you I sand down and polish using micromesh in the aircon because I don't want to go outside
I know that in some of the 0000 steel wool DB says that it contains bad stuff, could it be that reacting with the TO?

Wash the wool and the oils should come out, leaving a nice clean wool afterwards to work with!
6 more coats of tru oil. 2 more weeks of curing. Same result.Still not colourfast. Grrrr.
I have caved and bought some acrylic clear, so now I have to wait for an appropriate day to paint, it's been way to hot and humid recently.
Another 3-4 weeks of waiting afterwards though... This has been the most frustrating build yet for me, constant setbacks.
Plus, as the clear coat on my gold bass ended up turning the gold patchy, I decided to get a bit funky with it and try a gold sparkle finish. Looks awesome, but I misjudged and put a huge run right down the front of the guitar. Now that has to be sanded off and started again...It really wasn't my weekend.

bummer Pabs, you have had a bad run, hopefully luck comes your way soon !
Current Builds and status
scratch end grain pine tele - first clear coat on !
JBA-4 - assembled - final tweaks
Telemonster double scale tele - finish tobacco burst on body and sand neck
Completed builds
scratch oak.rose gum Jazzmaster - assembled needs setup
MK-2 Mosrite - assembled - play in
Ash tele with Baritone neck - neck pup wiring tweaks and play in
All good clean fun pabs haha, i just stuffed up 2 pickguards, might have to buckle and get a palm router, the expenses just never stop.
And i am still fighting with the heel join on my 12 string neck not taking colour, because of the insidious glue they used, hopefully i have it filled this time and can move on
Hope you turn the corner soon, nothing is insurmountable, its just a pain.
