Damo you could also wrap the bushes in some painter tape. Should stick well to the bush and easy to remove if required

Thanks for all the advice everyone. After trying a few options the issue I had was that the hole was too tight to wrap anything around the bush but not tight enough to hold the bush in. I ended up making up some paste with sawdust and weldbond and painted a layer on the inner walls of the hole. After a few hours of drying I hammered the bush back in restrung and it's still holding this morning so it looks like it's worked.
    Thanks all for your input!

Good stuff Damo. Just don't tune the E string too sharp may pull the bridge out again

Yeah woks that E string is a monster.. It's pretty daunting when you first string it up - everything tells you that the neck can't possibly stay glued to the body under that kind of tension -but surprisingly it stays put!

that's it Damo. The 3 bass kits I've built have all been bolt on necks and bridge screwed down with 4 screws so that hasn't been an issue
My favourite is the IB-6S bass is a monster and has 2 truss rods. You should have a crack at that next. 6 strings with spalty goodness !

Yeah I've seen IB6S.. Looks real nice! Looks like a lot of neck for my short fingers haha! My next kit (because I'm a sucker for punishment with hollow bods) is the ES1G. Start sanding her tonight. Gonna try a yellow/cherry/black burst. Got some sweet Porter Pickups for it too.. GAS Woks! GAS!
